Reports from Abidjan, Cote D’ivoire say Nigeria’s Super Eagles are ready for their defining moment world cup qualifier against Benin Republic this evening at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny.
Super Eagles New Helmsman, George Finidi disclosed that everyone one of the boys is fit and ready to fire including last match’s goal scorer Fisayo Dele-Bashiru in the encounter slated to kick off at 5pm.
The Nigerian stars hand landed Sunday at about 11am and had light training in the evening at the stadium adopted by the Republic of Benin team as their home ground for their world cup qualifiers.
Meanwhile Benin Republic head coach and former Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr says although his side will go into today’s clash with the Super Eagles as underdogs, they will be targeting a win.
Rohr’s Squirrels come into this evening fixture on the back of a 1-0 win against Rwanda which placed them in third place with four points.
For the Eagles, they are yet to record a win after drawing all their three games and are in fifth place.
Rohr was in charge of the Super Eagles from 2016 to 2021 and qualified them Nigeria for the 2019 and 2021 AFCON and also qualified the Eagles to the 2018 World cup in Russia.
He led the team to a third place finish in 2019 but was sacked just a few weeks after the start of the AFCON 2021.
