Abia State Government has warned organizers of events and individuals against practices that can lead to chaos and stampedes during gatherings within the Yuletide.
A statement from the ministry of information calls for a stop to such acts like spraying or throwing money or other items into crowds, pointing out that such actions have proven to
escalate disorder and increase the likelihood of stampedes.
The therefore enjoined event organizers to liaise with the Abia State Homeland Security or Local Government Authorities for professional support and guidance in ensuring safety at events.
It further directed Local Government Officials to henceforth monitor such activities closely and enforce strict compliance with outlined safety protocols.
The statement named the guidelines to include structured distribution Plans such as pre-registration, ticketing, or tagging ;
engagement of Security Personnel: Utilize trained security and crowd control Officers and the use of Suitable Venues.
The rest are. Staggered Timelines: Schedule distribution or events in phases, groups or batches and the Community Involvement through Collaborating with local leaders, youth groups, volunteers, Local Government Chairmen/Mayors, and Ward Councillors to coordinate a peaceful and
efficient process.
The statement however appealed l to individuals and families participating in these events to exercise patience and discipline to avoid reckless actions that put lives at risk.
