Security personnel kill Gunmen on attack mission in Ebonyi

Some hours to the scheduled visit of the wife of Inspection General of Police, Elizabeth Egbetokun to Ebonyi State Command for an Empowerment programme, some suspected Gunmen met their Waterloo when they attacked a check point at Ishieke in Ebonyi State.

According to eyewitnesses, the Gunmen numbering about five attacked the check point at about 9pm on Wednesday, shooting sporadically in the air and setting Police Operational vehicle blaze.

However, the situation which resulted in a Gun duel between the Gunmen and police operatives at the Ishieke Police checkpoint lasted for over 30mins and the intervention of other security operatives led to the killing of the hoodlums.

A resident of the area told Hanto Daily News that say “The situation, in his words, later drew the attention of more security operatives including Army who came in their numbers to apprehend the hoodlums, that continued shooting sporadically while moving to Odomoke Ishieke market side along Nwiboko Obodo road in Ebonyi Council Area.
This situation saw human and vehicular movement disappear within that vicinity as traders and residents of fled for their safety.

As at the time of filing this report the exact number of Gunmen killed could not be ascertained but it hovers between three and five.

The spokesperson of the Ebonyi State Police Command, DSP Joshua Ukandu could not be reached for comments as at the time of filing this report.
