Protect public infrastructure in your domain, Hon Onuigbo charges Communities

The member representing the South East Zone in the North East Development Commission, Chief Sam Onuigbo says Communities must safeguard infrastructure and all development projects in their localities to guarantee the rapid transformation of society.

Chief Onuigbo who made the call during this year’s annual August Conference of Obuohia Obi-Ibere Development Union, Women’s Wing held at the Community Primary School field Obuohia Obi-Ibere, Ikwuano LGA, described Igbo women as force to reckon with in the development of their communities.

While acknowledging the laudable efforts of Ibere women in over a quarter of a century to enhance the development of the area, the former Member of the National Assembly urged them to take steps to protect the Agro processing plant which he facilitated to enhance their agricultural venture as a rural community.

Chief Onuigbo further commended the various peace initiatives of the women which he said has helped a great deal in uniting the community and enjoined them to keep it up.

Contributing, the Mayor, Ikwuano Local Government Area, Mr Osinachi Nwaka who encouraged the women on the various self-help projects they have instituted, called for more attention to be given to the protection of the rights of women and assured of an inclusive government at the state and Local Government levels under the present administration.

In their separate speeches, the Chairman, Obuohia Obi-Ibere Development Union, Home Branch, Elder Sunday Otah and Sir Kelechi Ogbonnaya praised the leadership and entire women of Obuohia Obi-Ibere for their love for the community, pointing out that the synergy between them, the leadership of the community and other well-meaning individuals in the area has translated into the development of the community.

In her address, the President General, Obuohia Obi-Ibere Development Union Women’s Wing, Dame Chinyere Sam- Onuigbo described the annual gathering as an avenue for them to seek the face of God while chatting the cause of peace and development in their community and appreciated all for their support.

Highlight of the August Conference which has it theme as “Let us rise and build according to God’s pattern” were match past and football competition among the women and individual support by Chief Onuigbo to all the women.
