The search for raw young talents in boxing for the 8th edition of Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche C. Ugwu by Ex – International Boxer, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo received a major boost as he visited Uwani boys secondary School in Enugu South LGA.
Speaking with Hanto Daily News, Mazi Okoronkwo disclosed that out of over 80 students that trooped out for the exercise, 30 of them were selected for further screening and training.
He expressed delight at the enthusiasm shown by the students and school authorities during the exercise and described it as very encouraging.
The Ex – International Boxer further lauded parents from the nearby communities that also released their children for the exercise, pointing out that the desire to raise notable boxing Stars from the State is about being realized .
While assuring that the 8th edition of the Speaker’s boxing tournament will be successful, Mazi Okoronkwo thanked Rt. Hon. Ugwu for his sponsorship of the competition.
