Okaiuga Nkwoegwu communities come together to celebrate New yam after 20 years

It was an event of thanksgiving and joy as the people of Okaiuga Nkwoegwu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia comprising four autonomous communities converged on their usual point of gathering to celebrate together the 2024 after about twenty years of such unified occasion.

The ceremony which has been separately celebrated by each community in the recent past began with singing of praises and admonition by the Vicar St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Okaiuga Nkwoegwu, Venerable Obinna Orji and witnessed the distribution of one thousand sizeable tubers of yam to women .

Addressing the people, the President General, Okaiuga Nkwoegwu improvement union, Sir Uzomba Robert Ekwuribe, thanked the Chairman Umuahia North LGA, High Chief Victor Ikeji, the four traditional rulers and indigenes of the community for availing themselves for the unity gathering and restated his resolve to work for the proper repositioning of the community.

Sir Ekwuribe who is the traditional Prime Minister of Egwuneleke autonomous community further enjoined the entire Ohuhu clan and Abians in general to embrace peace and strive towards developing their areas in line with the policies of the Dr Alex Otti led administration in the state.

The ceremony which also featured projects launch and mini sporting activities attracted the presence of notable indigenes of the e area and invited Guests.
