The immediate past Provost of Abia State College of Education, Technical, Arochukwu ( ASCETA) Dr Philips Nto has described a former Governor of Abia State, Senator TA Orji as the real father of modern Abia.
In a congratulatory message to Senator T. A Orji popularly known as Ochendo Global,on his 75th birthday, Dr Nto who served as Commissioner for finance and Economic Development under the former Governor pointed out that Abia was calm and full of friendship and brotherhood through his transformative policies that promoted equity and fairness.
According to the former Provost, Ochendo Global, used his eight years as Governor to impact positively on the infrastructural landscape of the state and human capital development.
He insisted that Abia people owe Ochendo a debt of gratitude for his developmental strides while in office, pointing out that it was during the tenure of Ochendo that there was a massive youth empowerment that saw thousands of Abia youths taken off the unemployment market.
Dr Nto made it clear that Senator Orji’s tenure left enduring legacies, including a modern State Worker’s Secretariat, Timber, and Ubani modern markets, Ohiya Mechanic village as well as hundreds of urban and rural roads.
In his words ,” His Excellency picked some of at a very young age and gave us the opportunity to serve Abia State. Never in the history of the state has a leader embarked upon such human capital development “
The former ASCETS Provost noted with delight that it was as result of Ochendo’s goodwill that nine years after he left office, he is still relevant in the socioeconomic and political affairs of the state.
While thanking God for keeping Ochendo Global alive, Dr Nto congratulated him for turning 75 and prayed for more years of continued service to Abia State and Nigeria in good health.
