NLC, TUC begin another action from Monday

Nigeria’s Organised Labour has declared an indefinite nationwide strike from Monday, June 3rd over the failure of the federal government to conclude negotiations on a new national minimum wage and reverse the hike in the electricity tariff.

In a statement jointly endorsed by the NLC President, Joe Ajero and his TUC Counterpart, Festus Osifo, the leaders of NLC and TUC enjoined Nigerians to bear with them, pointing out that the stalemate is a demonstration of unseriousness and contempt with which the government holds the welfare of workers.

The organized Labour noted that they had given the federal government till the end of this month to conclude the agreement on the wage negotiation during the May day celebration and made it clear that workers who are the pivot of the economy must be respected.

They called on affiliate bodies, state chapters, civil society organization, traders and the general to join in the effort to boost the economy and reduce suffering in society
