The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2024 SSCE internal results.
NECO Registrar, Prof Dantani Wushishi who announced the results while briefing Newsmen at the headquarters of the council in Minna, the Niger State capital this Thursday, disclosed that 1,376,036 candidates sat for the examination.
According to him, 83.9% of the candidates who sat for the examination earned five credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics while
828,284 candidates secured credit in English Language and Mathematics representing 60.55% of the candidates who sat for the 2024 Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) internal examination conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO).
Wushishi further revealed that 8,407 candidates were involved in examination malpractices indicating a reduction from 12,030 in the 2023 examination, adding that 40 schools were found to have been involved in mass cheating in 17 states.
While pointing out that such schools will be facing a panel to enable appropriate sanctions to be applied, NECO Registrar also made public that the body blacklisted 21 supervisors across 12 states and de-recognized one school in Ekiti State for widespread cheating in two core subjects and one science subject.
The supervisors faced blacklisting for a range of misconduct, including poor supervision, aiding and abetting cheating, abscondment, extortion, drunkenness, and negligence.
