A former Member of the House of Representatives and current Member representing the South East on the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Chief Sam Onuigbo,has enjoined Nigerians to distant themselves from the scheduled protest for August 1.
Speaking in an interview, chief Onuigbo who acknowledged that Democracy guarantees freedom of expression and gathering reminded the Nigerian youth that considering the prevailing circumstances regarding the planned protest, they should not allow themselves to acts capable of resulting to chaos.
He pointed out that the protest which was intended to express their feelings regarding the harsh economic situation could be hijacked by unscrupulous elements, resulting to undesirable outcomes.
The former National Assembly Member who further reminded youths that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration is barely one year and has initiated policies aimed at addressing the economy, therefore appealed to them to reconsider the plan in the interest of the generality of the people.
“If someone has come and within a period of one year has taken critical decisions that his predecessors could not take, I think it is in our interest to give peace a chance and allow these decisions to really bear the desired fruits”, Chief Onuigbo appealed
