As preparations by sponsors of the Nationwide protest against hunger and bad governance slated to commence on 1st August gets to its peak, Abia State Governor Dr Alex Otti has called on parents, religious leaders, and Traditional Rulers to prevail on their children and subjects to shun any acts that could jeopardize the prevailing peace in the state.
In a broadcast to the people of the state, the governor urged the youths to resist temptation that may cause disharmony in the state, arguing that with the prevailing peace and the unprecedented achievements recorded in the areas of infrastructure and well-being of Abians, there is no need for protest in the state.
While acknowledging their right to protest and the hardship currently ravaging the land, Dr Otti called on the youths to adopt other alternatives to demonstrations and protests, including setting realistic timeline for the attainment of their demands and assured that the federal Government has adopted measures that will address these inherited rots.
He restated the determination of the state government to protect of lives and property of the citizens, pointing out that violence has never been an option rather dialogue.
