A third year Biochemistry student of Michael Okpara University, Umudike, MOUAU, ( names withheld), was this Thursday morning brought unconscious to Accident and Emergency unit of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Umuahia together with his younger brother who visited her after consuming suspected poisoned food.
The young Lady who is the reigning Miss MOUAU is expected to wed soon having recently been engaged to her fiance.
According to an account from another student, the victim had attended an organized rehearsal on Wednesday evening with her colleagues before retiring to her room with her brother after purchasing Suya, and drinks with friends.
The source is quoted as saying that the Duo were discovered lying unconscious with particles of noodles on their mouths by a friend whom the young lady had scheduled to travel to Aba with this Thursday for issues relating to her wedding.
At 5pm this Thursday, the brother of the MOUAU Student was said to have regained some consciousness and moved away to a more secured area in the Hospital.
The Lady whose fiance has been speechless is yet to regain consciousness but medics at the emergency section of the hospital were doing their best to restore her back to life.
Hanto Daily News recalls that the incident is happening barely a few weeks after a case of food poisoning led to the death of two students of the same institution said to be lovers and were having some misunderstanding among themselves.
