The maiden edition of the His Royal Majesty Sir Tim Nwokoro & Ugoeze Lady F. Nwokoro memorial Church music competition for the Methodist Diocese of Ihube holds on Saturday,28th September, 2024.
The musical fiesta tagged “Music that glorifies God “ is an annual Church music competition instituted by the Late Eze Sir Tim Nwokoro family courtesy of the Lay President Ihube Diocese, Sir Prince Ebere Nwokoro to encourage Diocesan choral groups in spreading Methodism known for songs of praise and professional choral performances.
A release jointly endorsed by the Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. C. C. Ekebuisi and Music Director, the Very Rev. Sir I. M. A Okwudiri puts the venue at Arch Bishop Dimoji memorial Methodist Cathedral, Ihube while time is 9 O’ clock in the morning.
The release points out that the winner will go home with N250,000 while the first runner – up will be given N150,000 and the second runner – up will receive N100,000.
According to the release, each participating circuit choral group must not be less than 25 choristers and not more than 40 in number, all dressed in Church choir robes while the songs for the competition include Methodist hymnbook 32 and Onyinye Chukwu by Harcourt White.
Recall, Late Eze Sir Tim Nwokoro and Ugoeze Lady Nwokoro came together as members of a choral group at Banham Methodist School in the city of Port Harcourt in then Eastern Nigeria, a relationship that blossomed in the Lord for over six decades.
