The National Vice Chairman, Southeast, Labour Party, Ceekay Igara has condoled with the Commissioner of Police Abia State, Danladi Isah, and the Nigerian Police, Abia State command on the killing of its personnel and injuring of others by unknown gunmen in Ohafia and the Ubakala in Umuahia South Local Government Area of the state.
Igara in a statement made available to the press condemned in its entirety the insecurity across the state occassioned by killings of security personnel and called for collaborative efforts at bringing an end to the incidences raising its ugly head in the state.
He enjoined the police not to go on repraisals, pointing out that the perpetrators may be from outside the state.
Igara however appealed to them to seek better and more robust intelligence led approach to nipping the insecurity in the bud.
He also prayed God to grant the souls of the dead eternal rest while praying for quick recovery of those injured.
The letter reads, “May I use this medium to condole with the Commissioner of Police, Abia State, CP Danladi Isah, the Abia State Police Command and the entire police Command Abia State on the demise of an office on duty and injuring of others by attackers yet unknown.
“I am saddened by the insecurity situation in our dear state Abia especially the killing of security personnel across the state. This is not who we are and by all means we should come together to find a lasting solution to this menace raising its ugly head in our state.
“I call on the police not to embark on any reprisals as the attackers may not be indigenes of our dear state as we respect the sanctity of life. I enjoin the police to seek for more intelligence led approaches to bringing an end to these insecurity situations. Accept my deepest condolences on the dead and may God grant the injured speedy recovery”.
