As Nigerians celebrate the country’s 64th independence anniversary, the Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Due Process and Public Procurement, Dr Oluebube Chukwu, has congratulated Nigerians and Abians in particular on the nation’s 64th Independence anniversary celebration.

In a chat with Journalists in Umuahia, Dr. Chukwu noted that the 64th independence anniversary coincides with Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to address its economic and security challenges that have posed great hardship on the people.

“It is with mixed feelings that we mark the anniversary of the nation’s independence. Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary is a bittersweet celebration, as the country continues to grapple with economic and security challenges that have taken a significant toll on its citizens. Despite the progress made, the lingering issues of insecurity, poverty, and unemployment have created a sense of uncertainty and hardship among Nigerians.

“The country’s struggle with security challenges, particularly terrorism, banditry and kidnapping, has been a major concern. The Boko Haram insurgency in the northern region has resulted in significant loss of life and property, while also affecting business operations and investment.

“Moreso, the economic challenges facing us currently, have been exacerbated by corruption, lack of institutional capacity, and inadequate infrastructure. The country’s reliance on oil exports has made it vulnerable to fluctuations in global oil prices, leading to economic instability.

“it’s essential to acknowledge our key challenges of poverty, unemployment, economic instability, insecurity, among others, and the need for collective efforts to address them,as we mark our 64th independence. The government, private sector and civil society, must work together to create a more secured, prosperous, and inclusive society for all Nigerians,” the Due Process Boss stated.

While pointing out that the nation’s independence calls for reflection, he therefore charged Nigerians the opportunity to reflect on the journey so far and as well, recommit to building a united, prosperous and secured nation.

He observed that the nation had witnessed several stages of development since her independence, emphasizing that the government’s efforts to address insecurity, promote economic growth, and improve education and healthcare have been progressive.

“Nigeria’s brightest days are ahead of us. Together, with unwavering belief, we will build a nation that our children and generations will be proud of”,he added.

Dr Chukwu used the forum to commend the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, for his deliberate efforts in transforming the state through his policies and programs.

According to him, Abia is gradually levelling up on the area of infrastructure, as the Governor has commissioned several road projects, including the University Road, Green Avenue, and College Road in Aba, significantly improving connectivity and economic activities in the area.

Dr Chukwu further noted with delight that Abia government has partnered with the European Union-funded Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Programme to enhance justice, and anti corruption systems.

He therefore congratulated Abians and Nigerians on the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the country’s independence and called on them to keep supporting Government at all levels.
