Just 24 hours after announcing the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, as the winners of the Local Government Chairmanship election in Enugu State, the state’s Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC has again declared the same PDP, the winner of all 260 councillorship seats in Enugu poll.
As was obtainable in the fellow South East State of Imo in her own similar polls held same Saturday with ruling APC capturing everything, the 260 councillorship seats and 17 Local Government Chairmanship seats of Enugu State were won by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The chairman, Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), Christian Ngwu, who made the declaration explained that the announcement of the results for the councillorship was delayed until this Monday to enable proper scrutiny.
Ngwu made it clear that the the results were carefully analysed to ensure that there were no mistakes.
His words, “PDP won all 260 ward councillorship positions within the 260 political wards in the state.
He noted that the election was duly conducted, adding that it was most peaceful, fair, free and credible.
While expressing delight that there was no record of violence, Ngwu also pointed out that the ENSIEC ensured a level playing ground for all parties and candidates during the polls.
The ENSIEC Chairman disclosed that Certificates of Return would soon be issued to all winners by the commission .
