Learn to be appreciative – Fr E – Dey Work tells Nigerians

A Catholic clergy and Spiritual Director Canaanland Counselling Centre, A. K. A, E Dey work, Rev. Fr. Dr. Magnus Ebere, SDV, has charged Christians to imbibe the spirit of appreciation to attract more favours.

Ministering at the “Covenant Day of Mega Blessings”, at Canaanland Counselling Centre, Umuoma Ezinihitte, Mbaise, Imo State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Ebere, popularly known as Fr. E Dey Work made it clear that recognizing the good deeds done for us will always result in further blessings.

The outspoken priest pointed out that the difference between developed and developing Nations could be seen in the manner they appreciate little efforts made by others while carrying out their duties.

According to him, while citizens of the developed countries see it as customary and wise to acknowledge those who make little efforts while performing their functions, those of the developing Nations such as Nigeria find it difficult to appreciate people that excel in their endeavours.

“During my last visit to the United States, the congregation at the Church I presided over their Mass shocked me when they spontaneously started clapping for serving the Holy Eucharist to population they felt was too much for a single priest.

“This number when compared to the crowd we render the same service to in Nigeria is nothing. But nobody shows such appreciation in Nigeria where the number is higher because we see it as the priest’s compulsory duty which he must perform,” FR. Ebere noted.

Fr E – Dey – Work used the forum to challenge Nigerian parents to learn to appreciate any little effort of their children and wards, pointing out that such an attitude will see the country’s youths continually engage in acts capable of promoting the interest of the people.

” Learn to appreciate your children instead of keeping quiet when they attain any little positive step. When you always scold if they go wrong and never appreciate when they get it right, they might be discouraged from patriotic acts,” he observed.
