After hours of meeting on Friday, the Federal and State Governments as well as the organised private sector this Friday agreed to offer N62,000 as the new National Minimum Wage with the organised labour rejecting the proposal and offering N250,000, a shift from its earlier N494,000.
Addressing Journalists after the meeting, Governor Hope Uzodinma who is the Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, said the tripartite committee is close to agreeing a new National Minimum Wage.
However, the organized Labour has made it clear that considering the economic realities of the day, the new offer of #62,000 cannnot bring succor to the people.
According to sources, this brings to and end the deliberations on the new minimum wage by the tripartite committee set up by the Federal Government after several months and the recommendations will be forwarded to President Tinubu, who is expected to send an executive bill to the National Assembly for legislative action
