Labour party gains two Legislators in Abia House

The rank of the membership of the Labour Party in Abia House of Assembly is swelling as the only two Young Peoples’Party, YPP, members of the house comprising the member representing Osisioma North State Constituency, Mr Iheanacho Nwogu and his Osisioma South counterpart Mr Fine Ahuama have defected to the ruling Labour Party.

The two lawmaker while announcing their defection to the Labour Party on the floor of the House attributed their decision to their suspension by their party on the ground of anti- party activities.

They noted that the decision will further enable them to give the Governor, Dr Alex Otti the needed support and encouragement to discharge his duties of providing the needed dividends of democracy to Abians.

Welcoming the two lawmakers, the Speaker, Abia House of Assembly, Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa appreciated them for their decision and urged them to return to their respective wards to get registered with the party at the ward levels and obtain their membership cards to become bonafide members of the party.

With the defection, the Labour Party now has 11 members in the House, PDP 11 and APC 1 with Aba North State Constituency still in controversy.

The House also at plenary screened and confirmed nominees for the Abia State Judicial Service Commission as nominated and forwarded to them by the Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.

The nominees include, Mr Chibuzo Irobi, Mr Finecountry Iyioku, Professor Udensi Chukwu Udensi and Mr Moses Ogbonna.
