Kano Emirate Stool: Residents celebrate Appeal Court pronouncement

Following the pronouncement of a Abuja Court of Appeal this Friday stopping the Federal High Court in Kano from handling the Kano Emirate dispute, Hundreds of Kano residents trooped into the streets to celebrate what they called the triumph of Emir Sanusi II in a crucial legal battle on Kano emirate stool.

According to reports from the the ancient commercial city, everywhere was in frenzy as able bodied men, and women in purdah were seen marching the streets in support of Sanusi II.

The situation around the old city area and its environs, as reports have it, was ecstatic resulting in traffic gridlock.

Supporters of Sanusi II who spoke to Hanto Daily News expressed happiness over the Appeal court verdict.

Recall, the 3 man Appealate court headed by Justice Mohammed Mustapha cited Section 251 of the Nigerian Constitution that the Federal High Court does not have the authority to handle issues related to chieftaincy.

This ruling is seen by supporters of Emir Sanusi ll as a clear endorsement and decisive affirmation of Emir Sanusi’s rightful position.
