Imo Govt takes step to improve infrastructure at Mbakwe Cargo Airport

The Imo state Government has taken steps to produce an action plan to develop the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport to ensure the availability of required standard facilities for an international cargo airport.

In accordance with the plan, the Commissioner for Industries and Solid Minerals, Chief Ernest Ibejiako has visited the International Cargo Airport to see things for himself.

Speaking during the visit, Chief Ibejiako who was conducted round the airport by the Airport Manager, Mrs Nkechi Ihekwoaba said Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma is very desirous to see the cargo Airport fully functional.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the standard and pace of the construction and work on some infrastructure at the Airport, describing it as below standard.

While lamenting that erosion is consuming part of the road to the entrance of the Airport, he also pointed out that a lot of materials used were wasted on the project and made it clear that the situation requires a reputable Engineer to assess and reevaluate the project

The commissioner sounded it loud and clear that Governor Uzodimma is in a hurry to ensure that Imo Cargo Airport is realized.
