In his dogged effort to ensure that he impacts positively on the lives of his Constituents, the member representing Umunneochi State Constituency, Mr Mathias Ume has inaugurated a Committee to oversee the implementation of his projects with a charge for them to prioritize the interest of the people.
Addressing the Committee Members at the event, Mr Ume said the constitution of the committee is in keeping with his campaign promises of doing a new thing and setting up legacy for others to emulate.
He noted that though they are yet to receive any constituency fund, he has decided to commit the funds he would have used in celebrating his one year in office to his constituents for the execution of projects in the constituency and tasked the committee to at least deliver the rehabilitation of a set of classrooms at the Nneato Secondary School in the next one month.
The lawmaker described members of the committee as people with outstanding antecedents and appealed to them to assist him in the task.
In his speech, the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr Chaka Chukwumerije who lauded Mr Ume for keeping to his campaign promises, said he was not surprised at the gesture as the lawmaker has always proven to be a progressive minded leader and pledged to financially support the constituency fund project.
Responding on behalf of other members of the Committee, the Chairman Umunneochi Constituency Project Committee and a former Leader of Umunneochi Legislative Council, Mr Obi Anyaoha while appreciating Mr Ume for finding them worthy to carry out the task, described the lawmaker as an outstanding representative of the area and pledged their commitment towards a transparent and credible discharge of the duties.
