Tears of joy, exclamation of emotional out pours and unquenchable shouts of praises reigned at Uturu Secondary School, Isuikwuato LGA as the Member Representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah officially flagged off the infrastructural upgrade of the School as well as distributed educational materials worth millions of naira to the Students.
The infrastructural development projects which are part of a federal intervention spearheaded by the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC) and attracted by Hon Ogah are estimated to cost about ₦1.4 billion while the items distributed included customized school bags and other learning tools.
The scope of the upgrade will feature the construction of four state-of-the-art laboratories (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and General Science), ICT block equipped with an e-library and a modern administrative block fully powered with solar energy.
Addressing the people at the occasion , Hon. Ogah noted that this initiative will not only improve the educational infrastructure in Uturu but also position the school as a model institution in the state.
“It’s a new era of education, and I’m proud to be a part of this progress,” he excitingly stated.
The National Assembly Member assured that the project will be completed within six months and called for the cooperation of the community to ensure the safety and security of workers and facilities during the construction phase.
Hon. Ogah thanked the federal government for supporting the initiative and reiterated his dedication to uplifting his constituency.
“This project is a dream come true, not just for me, but for the entire constituency. Beyond the infrastructure, I wanted to make an immediate impact on the students, which is why I provided the school materials. It’s about creating an environment where they can thrive academically and personally,” the Legislator pointed out.
In her speech, the principal of the school, Dr. Mrs. Salome Nkemakolam Obiukwu, described the day as historic and commended Hon. Ogah for his generosity in providing the students with school materials, which she said would motivate them.
“This intervention is a milestone for our school, which has produced notable leaders across various sectors. Hon. Ogah has not only brought progress but also reignited hope in the power of quality education.
“This is the first federal intervention of its kind in our school.
“Hon. Amobi Ogah has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the progress of our people, and this project is a testament to his vision and dedication,” Dr Obiukwu pointed out
Expressing the feelings of the community, the Traditional ruler of Isiyi Autonomous Community, Eze Sir Dr. C. A . Onuoha described the project as a “divine blessing” and pledged the community’s full support and prayers for the National Assembly Member.
Baring his min, the President General Uturu Community, Dr Chidi Mbah noted that the intervention is a turning point and a new chapter of progress, stressing that Hon Ogah has delivered beyond expectations.
