Home based Eagles qualify for 2025 CHAN

Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles known as the CHAN Eagles or Eagles B have qualified to participate in the 2025 African Nations Championship slated to be co-hosted by Uganda , Kenya and Tanzania from 1st February, 2025.

The CHAN Eagles secured their place in the tournament after a commanding 3-1 victory over Ghana’s Black Galaxies at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, having drawn goalless in the first leg in Accra.

Hanto Daily News sports correspondent reports that, the Eagles B Team dominated the return fixture with three first-half goals from Remo Stars duo Sodiq Ismail and Nduka Junior as well as Rangers’ Kazeem Ogunleye.

Ghana’s consolation goal came through Stephen Amankuna in the 73rd minute and this ensured that Nigeria qualifird for their first CHAN tournament since 2018.

Recall, Ghana, had previously eliminated Nigeria from CHAN qualification in 2008 and 2022.

The CHAN Eagles will aim to improve on their previous best finish as runners-up in 2018.
