As earlier predicted by Hanto Daily News, Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has reschuffled his Cabinet with Portfolios assigned to the Newly Appointed Commissioners who were sworn-in yesterday.
A release endorsed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, further announced the Creation of a few more ministries.
According to the release, Mr. Uwaoma Ukandu is the new Commissioner for Finance while the former, Mr. Mike Akpara is now the Commissioner for Industry & SMEs whereas Dr. Mrs. Maureen Ijeoma Aghukwa is in the new Commissioner for Women Affairs, formerly under Mrs. Blessing Ngozi Felix who has been shifted to ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection.
The release further states that Mr. Kingsley Chibueze Nwokocha is the new Commissioner for Trade & Commerce, with the former, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu now taking over as Commissioner for Transport., whereas the man he succeeded, Comrade Sunny A. Onwuma emerges as the Commissioner for the newly created ministry of Labour & Productivity.
It also announced that Prince Okey Kanu is now the Commissioner for Information as the ministry of culture separated in the new system has Mr. Mathew Ekwuruibe as the Commissioner for Arts, Culture & Creative Economy, the same fate that befell Prof. Uche Eme Uche who is the new Commissioner for Tertiary Education, while Mr. Goodluck Ubochi is now the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education.
Those not affected by the reshuffle include: Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna – Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice; Prince Uzo Nwachukwu — Commissioner Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs; Mr. Kingsley Anosike – Commissioner for Budget and Planning; Mr. Philemon A. Ogbonna– Commissioner for Environment and Prof. Joel F. Ogbonna – Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
Others are: Mr. Nwaobilor Ananaba – Commissioner for Youth & Sports; Mr. Chaka Chukwumerije – Commissioner for Lands & Housing; Engr. Don Otumchere Oti – Commissioner for Works and Engr. Ikechukwu Monday — Commissioner for Power & Public Utilities.
Those who replaced their predecessors that resigned from are Prof. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche is the new Commissioner for Health whose predecessor and Mr. David Kalu – Commissioner for Science, Technology & Innovation.
Recall, Governor Otti while addressing the newly sworn – in Commissioner this Wednesday (14/8/24) announced his decision to rejig the system.
