The Coordinator Enugu State Grassroots Boxing programme Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo has expressed confidence that the talents discovered through the 7th Edition of Speaker Enugu State House of assembly grassroots Boxing talent hunt exercise currently representing Enugu State at the ongoing Under 15 National Youth Games taking place in Asaba will bring laurels to the State.
The contingent which left Enugu for Asaba on 10th September 2024 includes: Maxwell Anikwe (-42 kg) Awgu LGA, Victory Nnaji (-42kg) Enugu North LGA, Agbo Chisom (-40 kg) Nkanu East LGA and
Ani Chisom ( – 42kg) Nkanu West LGA.
Mazi Okoronkwo lauded the various Council Areas and their school authorities for their cooperation with the Enugu State Government in this journey and called for persistent sponsorship of grassroots sports.
He expressed happiness that grassroots Boxing ( Sports) development is getting the desired structure at Local Government Areas in line with the expectation of the people.
The Ex International Boxer however charged the sports Ambassadors to be focused and ensure that Enugu State excels in the tournament.
The tournament which kicked off on the 10th September is expected to come to a close on the 20th September.
