The seventh edition of the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly Grassroots Talent Hunt which came to a close on the 24th of June, 2024 with Nkanu East LGA as Champions has been described as very successful.
Speaking with Hanto Daily News, the coordinator of the tournament and Nigerian Ex International Boxer, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, commended the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Uche Ugwu for his unwavering interest in youth development through sports.
He commended the sportsmanship exhibited by the young Boxers and urged them to continue believing in their ability to conquer the world of boxing.
Nkanu East came tops with nine gold medals, Isi Uzo placed second with six gold medals while Oji River emerged third with three gold medals.
The Speaker Rt Hon Uche Ugwu who graced the occasion presented the Winner’s trophy to the Champions Nkanu East while Rev Fr. Hillary Mgbodile presented to the first runners up, whereas the member representing Oji River State constituency, Hon Osita Eze handed over the second runners up trophy.
