As the #EndBadGovernance protest enters its seventh day this wednesday, reports say Protesters and Jounalists attempting to cover the event were harrased by thugs in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to Channels Television reports, a group of thugs stationed themselves directly opposite Secretariat in Port Harcourt, on the Port Harcourt /Aba express road which has been a gathering point for the protesters since the commencement of the hunger and end bad governance protest, intimidating, beating and chasing away protesters while police officers stood by and did nothing.
Channels Television correspondent, Deborah Agbalam was reportedly surrounded and threatened by the thugs, who stated that their mission is to ensure that no protest would take place today.
When contacted, the Rivers State Police Commissioner, Olatunji Disu expressed concern over the incident, promising a thorough investigation to ensure accountability and prevent future occurrences.
Recall, Rivers State Commissioner of Police who had visited the protest sites severally in the past days, ensured that his men remained professional as well ensure peace and orderliness among the protesters since commencement of the protest.
Indeed, he was reported to have at some point offered light refreshment to the peaceful protesters in Port Harcourt, as his way of thanking them for remaining peaceful and law abiding.
