A Magistrate Court sitting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has ordered the remand of one Chima Eseni Etta in Abakaliki Correctional Service Center for allegedly killing his wife in a domestic violence that took place on the 4th September, 2024.
The accused who was appearing in Court for the first time since his arrest by the Police did not take his plea as the presiding Magistrate, Chinedu Agama only went through the case file and directed the that the case file be forwarded to the office of the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for necessary information and legal advise.
The Presiding Magistrate therefore adjourned the matter to the 31st December, 2024 for a report of compliance.
The Court thereafter ordered that the accused person be remanded in the custody of the Abakaliki Correctional Service Center.
The Prosecution lawyer, Monday Aloh, and Vice Chairperson of FIDA in Ebonyi State, Serah Chukwu who spoke to Journalists after the Court session, stated that the prosecution have made necessary applications to the Court as required by law.
The deceased, Ugochukwu Chima a mother of three, had been married to the accused for about 16 years before her death on 24th October, 2024, following injuries allegedly sustained during a fight at their residence in Abakaliki.
