Ebonyi Governor orders LG Chairmen to clear arrears of salaries and pensions

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, has directed chairmen of the 13 local government areas of the state to ensure that all outstanding payments of salaries and pensions are made before 2 pm on Monday, December 23, 2024.

Rt. Hon. Nwifuru in a release endorsed by his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor expressed concern over the delayed payment of salaries and pensions to local government workers in the state.

The Governor while viewing the situation as worrisome, emphasised his commitment to delivering good governance anchored on the people’s charter of needs.

He made it clear that his administration will not tolerate any form of sabotage in executing the social contract with the people.

“By 2 pm tomorrow, all the staff of the Local Government should receive their salaries and pensions,” the CPS said in a statement on Sunday.

Reports say Local government employees in Ebonyi state are owed salaries for October and November.

Recall, Governor Nwifuru in his efforts to ensure a reprieve for civil and public servants in Ebonyi had approved the payment of N150,000 to every worker in the state workforce.
