The Head of Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, in Abia State, Dr Oluebube Chukwu says the 2025 budget was carefully crafted with a clear focus on enhancing infrastructure, education, healthcare, social welfare and other areas that are vital to the overall development of Abia State.
Dr Chukwu who was speaking with Newsmen in Umuahia lauded Abia State Government for its thorough and transparent approach to the 2025 budget, emphasizing that it reflects the government’s commitment to responsible fiscal management and sustainable development.
He noted with delight that the budget, highlights several key areas that would have a significant positive impact on the state’s growth and welfare.
The Due Process Bureau Head commended the Government’s emphasis on transparency and accountability in the budget process, pointing out that the Due Process office had been closely involved in reviewing the proposals to ensure that all financial allocations and spending plans align with legal and ethical standards.
“The 2025 budget is a forward-thinking and progressive document that will lay a strong foundation for the state’s continued growth.
“It is evident that the government has prioritized sectors that will directly benefit the people of Abia, particularly in terms of job creation, Agriculture,infrastructure development, and improved access to essential services”,Dr Chukwu stated.
According to him one of the standout features of the budget, according to Dr Chukwu, is the significant allocation for infrastructure development, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads and public facilities across the state.
Dr Chukwu expressed confidence that these projects are expected to boost local economies, improve connectivity, and attract investments to the state.
The Due Process Boss further expressed happiness that In the education sector, the budget proposes an increase in funding for the renovation of schools, the provision of learning materials and the expansion of scholarship programs aimed at empowering the youth.
Dr Chukwu noted that the state’s focus on education is critical for the future of Abia, ensuring that young people are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the modern economy.
While observing that the healthcare sector also received a substantial portion of the budget, with increased funding for the upgrade of health facilities, procurement of medical equipment and improvement in healthcare delivery services, the Senior Special Assistant to the State Governor on Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, stated that the investment in the health sector would significantly improve access to quality healthcare, particularly in rural areas.
Dr Chukwu also emphasized government’s commitment to the welfare of vulnerable groups, with special provisions for social protection programs targeting the elderly, persons with disabilities and low-income families. These programs are designed to provide a safety net for those who are most at risk, ensuring that they have access to essential services and support.
He called on all stakeholders, including local government officials, lawmakers, and members of the public, to continue their collaboration with the state government to ensure the successful implementation of the budget, reiterating the importance of Due Process in the management of public funds and assured the people of Abia State that his office would remain vigilant in monitoring the execution of the 2025 budget to ensure that all projects are completed efficiently and within the approved financial framework.
