Cathedral circuit wins Eze & Ugoeze Nwokoro memorial Church music competition

The maiden edition of the His Royal Majesty, Eze Sir Tim Nwokoro & Ugoeze Lady F. Nwokoro memorial Church music competition for the Methodist Diocese of Ihube held this Saturday, 28th September, 2024 at Arch Bishop Dimoji memorial Methodist Cathedral, Ihube with Cathedral circuit emerging Champions.

The event which recorded the participation of six choirs saw Ogube Circuit taking second position while Lokpanta circuit came third.

Leru Circuit took the fourth position while Wesley Circuit emerged fifth whereas Unity Circuit occupied the sixth position.

Addressing the participants, the Methodist Bishop of Ihube Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Chinonyerem Ekebuisi thanked the various choir groups for availing themselves of the opportunity and expressed confidence that more choral groups will participate in the second edition.

He further lauded the Late Eze Sir Tim Nwokoro family for the gesture and prayed God to reward them abundantly.

In a brief remark, the Diocesan Music Director, Very Rev. Sir I. Okwudiri revealed that only two choral groups were unavailable for the competition and appreciated the spirit of comradeship among the the participants.

The musical fiesta tagged “Music that glorifies God “ chose two songs for the competition including Methodist hymnbook 32 and Onyinye Chukwu by Harcourt White.

The annual Church music competition instituted by the Late Eze Sir Tim Nwokoro family courtesy of the Lay President Ihube Diocese, Sir Prince Ebere Nwokoro aims at encouraging Diocesan choral groups in spreading Methodism known for songs of praise and professional choral performances.

Trophies for the winners were presented by the wife of the Bishop, Nneoma Ada . C. Ekebuisi.
