Bello leaves Kuje Correctional Centre

The immediate past Governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello has been released from Kuje Custodial Centre after meeting the bail conditions set by the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja following the fulfillment of his bail conditions.

Spokesperson for the Nigerian Correctional Service, FCT Command, Adamu Duza, who confirmed the development on Friday evening.
Duza said, “Yahaya Bello has been released after meeting the bail conditions.

According to him, “The Controller of NCoS FCT, Ajibogun Olatubosun, was on the ground to ensure his smooth release and that all protocols were observed.”

Recall, the former Governor was granted bail on Thursday by Justice MaryAnne Anenih in the sum of N500m and the conditions include providing three sureties, each owning property in select high-value areas of Abuja, such as Maitama, Guzape, or Asokoro.

Furthermore, Bello was directed to surrender his passport as he is restricted from traveling outside Nigeria without prior permission.

Bello alongside Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu, are facing a 16-count charge of conspiracy, criminal trust, and unlawful possession of property, brought against them EFCC.
