The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has reaffirmed Dr. Asue Ighodalo’s nomination as the Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State as it set aside the judgement of Justice Inyang Ekwo delivered on the 4th of July, 2024.
In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Musali JCA in the suit marked CA/ABJ/CV/764/2024, the court ruled that the delegates who sought to nullify the PDP primaries lacked the locus standi to do so, and made it clear that the trial court, the High Court, had no jurisdiction to invalidate the primaries.
By this judgement, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has overturned the judgement of a Federal High Court which ordered the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to allow the participation of 381 ad-hoc delegates in its February 22 primary election in Edo State which produced Asue Ighodalo as the candidate of the party in the September 21, 2024 governorship election in the state.
