Anthony Joshua visits Tinubu

Former world two-time Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Anthony Joshua, paid a new year visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence this Wednesday (1/1/25).

Special Adviser to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, in a post on social media platform X, revealed that the Renowned Boxer presented President Tinubu with a gift – an autographed glove.

The inscription on the glove reads: “To the Great Asiwaju Borgu of Africa, Bola A Tinub

According to information available, the British Nigerian Heavyweight Boxing Star, shared moments with the President, discussing sports, youth empowerment, and Nigeria’s future on the global stage.

AJ as he is popularly called by fans was quoted as commending Tinubu’s leadership and vision for the nation, stating.

“It’s an honor to meet with the President and discuss ways we can inspire the next generation of Nigerians,” the boxing Icon noted.

In a brief remark, President Tinubu, visibly delighted by Joshua’s visit, praised the athlete for his dedication and outstanding representation of Nigeria on the international scene.

“Antony Joshua is not just a boxing champion but a symbol of resilience and excellence for our youth,” Tinubu remarked.

The visit, seen as a significant gesture of respect and unity, showcased Joshua’s deep-rooted connection to his Nigerian heritage.

According to reports, this gesture comes on the heels of Joshua’s appointment as Ogun State’s sports ambassador by Governor Dapo Abiodun which was announced during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Abeokuta on Monday.
