Barely forty – eight hours after the Director – General National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar, resigned, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi, has also tendered his resignation.
A statement signed by the media aide to President Bola Tinubu, Ajuri Ngelale this Monday concerning the resignation also announced the appointment of new Directors-General for the DSS, Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi and that of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mohammed Mohammed.
The resignation of the two top intelligence gurus which is quite unusual in the country’s polity is seen by many analysts as an indication that all may not be well with the official security situation which could be described as worrisome following steady rise in criminal activities.
According to unconfirmed reports , there may still be other decisions on the way to ensure a conspicuous decrease in violent crimes terrorism , kidnapping, among others.
