While Governors of many States in Nigeria are locked in what appears to be long negotiations with their Workers on the new National minimum wage, newly approved pay, Civil and public servants in the North East State of Adamawa have started smiling to the bank for the newly approved pay.
Workers spoken to confirmed that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has begun paying the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage to state workers.
The Workers who could not hide their joy thanked the Governor for this show of integrity describing him as a “man of his word.”
With this development, Governor Fintiri has become the first state governor aside from those in Lagos and Edo states whose workers were already being paid a minimum of N70,000 monthly to implement the new minimum wage.
According to an earlier agreement between Adamawa state Government and the Labour, while the state workforce will commence receiving theirs this August, Local Government Workers will start receiving the increased salary in September.
