The free transport initiative for Abians interested in travelling home for the Christmas and New Year celebrations sponsored by the Dr. Alex Otti administration for those at various locations across the Northern states has commenced this Tuesday morning.
Hanto Daily News correspondent in Abia reports that Abians in these states turned out in their numbers to avail themselves of this initiative that has removed exorbitant transport fares that could have discouraged them from traveling home.
The buses took off from Gwagwalada Abuja, Mararaba Nasarawa, Minna Niger, Kaduna, Kano and Jos Plateau.
Baring their mind, Miss Chinaza Esther William from Amuda Isuochi, Mrs. Ijeoma Richard from Ehume Umuokpara and Mr. Jasper Emenike from Alayi Bende expressed joy that the journey from Abuja to Umuahia which would have cost 60000 naira per head has been offered to them free of charge.
They therefore thanked the Governor for the gesture and pledged their unflinching support for his administration.
Speaking in an interview, the Head of the Abia state Liaison Office Abuja, Mr. Odinakachi Eric Eme, said Governor Alex Otti’s interest in initiating the free transport policy is aimed at reducing the financial burdens of the people during this Yuletide.
Mr. Eric Eme who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Multilateral and Donor Agencies, however called on Abians to support the governor in delivering democracy dividends in the new Abia, assuring that more dividends are in the pipeline.
