A total of 4368 students of Abia State University, Uturu matriculated during the 42nd Matriculation of the Istitution held on Friday at the University Pavilion.
Addressing the Students, the Vice Chancellor Abia State University, Professor Onyemachi Ogbulu the University warned them against engaing in Cultism and examination malpractice and advised them to pursue their academic career with seriousness to justify the sacrifices made by their parents.
Professor Ogbulu pointed out that the University has maintained a great history and enviable academic record as well as pursued vigorously its mandate in the areas of teaching, research and community service n, which has resulted to ABSU graduates blazing the trail locally and internationally.
He thanked the Governor and Visitor to the University Dr Alex Otti for his continued support to the University especially in tackling security challenges around the University community and assured parents and guardians of the security of lives and properties of their children in the University.
In a sermon on the topic “Chosen for positive impact, the Venerable Ugochukwu Ihechukwu of the Anglican church reminded the Matriculants that every opportunity comes with expectation hence the need to fulfill the expectations of their parents in the University.
Highpoint of the 42nd matriculation ceremony was the administration of matriculation oath on the Matriculants by the University Registrar Dr Acho Elendu.
