After Nine months dilly dallying, the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emereuwa, has finally sworn in Hon. Aaron Uzodike of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the member representing Aba North constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.
Hon. Uzodike, who was enthroned courtesy of a Lagos Appeal Court judgment that dethroned Destiny Nwagwu of the Labour party that was declared winner by INEC in the 2023 House of Assembly elections.
However, the Assembly did not swear in the PDP lawmaker, even after he received the Certified True Copy of the Appeal Court judgement and a Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the speaker cited another court order restraining him from doing so.
The delay in the swearing-in of Hon. Uzodike generated lots of debates from across different interests and segments, with some alleging that the speaker was being pressured by the Executive to act in such a manner.
This has finally laid to rest to much discussed non representation of the people of Aba North State constituency.
Meanwhile, the Abia State chapter of the PDP has congratulated Hon. Aaron Uzodike on his successful inauguration as the member representing Aba North Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.
Hon. Uzodike’s inauguration after several months of delay represents a significant milestone in our democracy’s journey to perfection.

According to the statement Hon. Uzodike’s tenacity and perseverance in the face of the unwarranted delay is a testament to his dedication and commitment to serving the people of his constituency.
The release however called on the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly to urgently release all entitlements owed to Hon. Uzodike for the past 15 months enable him to execute his duties effectively and fulfill the promises made to the people he represents.
