As Journalists across the Country celebrate the emergence of Yahaya Alhassan as the new President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Abia State Council of the Union has congratulated Yahaya Alhasan on his well-deserved election.
A release endorsed by the State Council Secretary, Comrade Iyke Onuegbu, described Yahaya Hassan’s emergence as the new leader of the fourth estate of the realm in the country as a signpost for a brighter future for journalists.
The release noted that the massive vottes polled by Alhasan in the election was a sign of his wide acceptability and demonstration of the trust and confidence the members reposed in him and enjoined him to hit the ground running.
The release applauded Delegates to the Conference for conducting themselves peacefully and thanked the out-gone President, Chief Chris Isiguzo, for the dynamism and innovations he brought to the Union during his tenure, while wishing the NUJ new leadership a successful tour of duty.
It assured that Abia of the Council’s unalloyed support to the Yahaya Alhassan-led national executive.
Yahaya Alhassan was elected the new President of NUJ during the just concluded 8th National Triennial Delegates Conference held in Owerri, Imo State.
Elected alongside the President are other members of the Central Working Committee (CWC), including the immediate-past Chairman of Abia Council, Comrade Victor Ndukwe, who emerged unopposed as the National Treasurer of the Union.
