The Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC, has announced that two political parties that were among over 12 political parties that participated in the Saturday, 2 November, 2025 Abia State Local Government elections were winners of the chairmanship seats.
Announcing the results at the Agency’s Headquarters in Umuahia, the ABSIEC Chairman, Prof. George Chima disclosed the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, won in 15 Local Government Areas while the Young Progressives Party, YPP, captured two council areas.
The Councils won by the Zenith Labor Party are Isiala Ngwa North, Ikwuano, Arochukwu Isiala Ngwa south Isuikwuato, Ohafia, Bende and Umunneochi.
Others include Obingwa, Ukwa East, Umuahia South, Umuahia North, Ukwa West, Aba North and Aba South.
The two Local Government captured by the Young Progressives Party are Osisioma and Ugwunagbo.
The ABSIEC Chairman described the election as free, fair, credible and competitive, with over 12 political parties participating in the election,
He thanked the inter-party Advisory Council IPAC security agents and media for their roles in making the election successful while congratulating the winners on their emergence.
The results for the councillorship seats are expected to be made public as soon as possible.
