Abia JUSUN suspends industrial action

The State Chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has suspended its strike that commenced ten days ago

Announcing the suspension this Monday in a meeting of the union at  the High Court complex Umuahia,the Chairman Abia State Chapter of the JUSUN,  Comrade Chinedu Eze,  explained that the action followed a memorandum of understanding signed by the Union and the state government on the implementation of the new minimum wage among other sundry matters.

According to him, the memorandum jointly signed by the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice – Chief Ikechukwu Uwanna, the National President of JUSUN – Marwan Adamu, the state Chairman JUSUN – Comrd. Chinedu Eze as well as the state Assistant Secretary – Comrd. Chibueze Nwachukwu states that the suspension of the strike is with immediate effect while neither the executive nor any  member of the union shall be victimized for participating in the Industrial Action.

The JUSUN Chairman further made public that the state government approved the  implementation of the National Minimum wage shall be in line with the CONJUS scale for the judiciary staff from October 2024, while Rice palliative and other entitlements will be provided for the judiciary in line with other public servants in the State.

He revealed  that the MOU also has it that entitlements for retirees of the judiciary shall be paid while a negotiation team that will meet regularly to resolve the issues between the Union and government shall be constituted without further delay.

Comrade Eze pointed out that the memorandum commended the state government for its sensitivity to the yarnings of the staff and pledged its loyalty to the programmes and policies of the state government.
