Abia state Government has inaugurated a – five – member Committee of Due Process and Public Procurement, Compliance and Monitoring Team, with Mr Ejieke Chinomso, as Chairman and Chief Sunday Agoha as Secretary.
Other members include Mr Okwara Chiukpai, Mr Sunday Azubuike and Mr Francis Onwubuariri.
Addressing the – Five – Man – Compliance Monitoring Committee in his office at the Government House, Umuahia, the Head, Due Process and Public Procurement, Dr Oluebube Chukwu, pointed out that constituting the team became very imperative following a directive from the Governor, Dr Alex Otti, who insists in ensuring that all government Procurement activities are devoid of sharp practices.
He reiterated the determination of the present administration in ensuring that transparency and probity in governance remain its watchword.
Dr Chukwu made it clear that the mandate of the Team is to visit all Procurement Units in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of government in the State to collect data on their activities for official use of the Bureau and others, revealing tha relevant government Ministries and Agencies have been officially communicated about the team’s visit.
While soliciting the cooperation of Heads of the MDAs with the Team, he encouraged the committee members to be diligent and passionate with the assignment considering its importance to the state.
Dr. Chukwu assured them of logistics support to enable them deliver in record time, and directed them to be sending weekly interim reports every Friday, until they round up on the state assignment.
Responding the Chairman Compliance and Monitoring Committee, Mr Ejike Chinomso, and the Head Procurement Department, Mr Chiukpai Okwara, promised to justify the confidence and appreciated the Head Due Process and Public Procurement, Dr Oluebube Chukwu, for the confidence reposed in them.
