Abia Govt begins renovation of schools

The Abia state government has announced the commencement of the retrofitting of thirteen schools per local government area, comprising ten Primary Schools and three Secondary Schools to meet basic standard educational requirements.

The Governor, Dr Alex Otti says his administration will continue to identify with programmes and policies geared towards impacting positively on the lives of the people.

Governor Alex Otti who broke the cheering news while interacting with journalists during the Monthly Media Chat tagged; “Governor Alex Otti Speaks To Abians”, insisted that all his administration is doing is to leave the state better than he met it and restated his resolve to identify with programmes and policies geared towards impacting positively on the lives of the people.

He pointed out that the administration in an effort to make the teaching profession more attractive has extended the retirement age of teachers from 60 – 65 years and has started a discriminatory Compensation Package, among other packages for teachers in the state.

On Health, the Governor said government has given health facilities facelift to meet the growing health needs of the people adding that processes to set up up the Abia Medical Village with the aim of reversing Medical tourism have commenced and is receiving serious support from Abians in diaspora.

Governor Otti used the forum to announce that a total of seventy roads have been maintained, ten of them commissioned, twenty roads under construction in addition to the recently flagged off 3.5 Osisioma-Ekeakpara road while four recently completed roads will be commissioned soon.
