Abia contingent to 2024 National Festival of Arts and Culture charged to win laurels

Abia State Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Mr Mathew Ekwuribe has charged the state contingent to this year’s National Festival of Arts and Culture holding in Abuja to perform excellently with a view to bringing the trophy.

Mr. Matthew Ekwuribe who threw the challenge in Abuja while addressing the participants at the event, pointed out that Governor Alex Otti has provided enabling environment for Arts and Culture to thrive in the state through the creation of the Ministry geared towards promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the State.

While commending governor Otti for making it possible for the state to participate in the event, Mr. Ekwuribe who is the Leader of the contingent, urged the participants to exhibit their ingenuity in all the activities of the event by showcasing to the world the cultural blessings the state is endowed with.


In his speech, the head Abia state Liaison Office Abuja, Mr. Odinakachi Eme assured the contingent of the support of the office during their stay in Abuja.

Declaring the event open earlier, the Director General National Council for Arts and Culture Mr. Obi Asika described culture as the strongest asset Nigeria has for the speedy development of the Socio political and economic life.

Hanto Daily News reports that Abia stand at the event is tastefully decorated with bits and fabrics like the Ishiagu materials, Akwaete materials from Ukwa East, sculptures among other things depicting the cultural heritage of the state while the Ohafia war dance was on hand to thrill the people.
