Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Chief of Staff to Abia state Governor, has called on the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to periodically review the revenue allocation formula to ensure it aligns with evolving realities and maintains fairness.
Speaking when a delegation from the commission led by Mrs. Elizabeth Okafor, the Administration Director and Coordinator of the Abia and Imo offices, visited him at the Government House Umuahia, Pastor Ajagba, charged the body to maintain its advisory role across all tiers of government through emphasizing the importance of fiscal efficiency and identifying new avenues for revenue generation.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor highlighted the current administration’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and a clear vision under Governor Dr. Alex Otti, stating that recent developments in the state reflect the Governor’s dedication to transforming Abia for the better.
He congratulated Mrs. Okafor on her new role and assured her of the administration’s support to help the commission fulfill its mandate.
In her address, Mrs. Elizabeth Okafor expressed her desire to foster a strong relationship with the state government and seek partnerships that would enhance fiscal efficiency and boost revenue and commended Governor Otti’s achievements, particularly in infrastructure development.
In her speech, the State Coordinator of RMAFC, Cecelia Emerue reiterated the commission’s responsibility in overseeing revenue distribution from the Federal Account, setting appropriate remuneration for political officeholders, and ensuring the integrity of the nation’s revenue streams.
