Aba killings: we won’t succumb to blackmail – Gov Otti

In order to put a stop to the killing of security personnel by unknown Gunmen in Abia State, Governor Alex Otti says his administration will ensure the change of strategies for crime detection and control in the State.

Governor Otti who was addressing Journalists after visiting the families of the two Police officers killed on Friday by Unknown Gunmen at Opobo road junction of Ogbor Hill Aba and the hospitals where the two wounded were receiving treatment, described the incident as very unfortunate.

He vowed that his government would fish out the perpetrators, expressing concern that the attack came a few weeks after a similar incident where five soldiers lost their lives.

.

“We have decided to change strategy. We do not want to speculate but like you (journalist) rightly asked, it is reasonable to suspect that the enemies of the state, particularly those who don’t seem to see any good or want any good for Abia people, may be somehow connected to this. That’s a suspicion.

“We are not going to let this go away without identifying and bringing to book all those who are directly or remotely involved,” Otti said

The Governor, however, made it clear that his administration will not succumb to any form of blackmail but will ensure that the sources of insecurity are dealt with and those behind them apprehended and prosecuted.
