As predicted by Political observers, nothing different happened in the just concluded Anambra Local Government elections as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) coasted to victory in the September 28, 2024 local government elections in Anambra State, winning all chairmanship and councillorship positions across the 21 local government areas and the 326 wards.
With this development, Anambra has joined the winner takes all syndrome that has characterized the conduct of local government polls in the country since the emergence of the present democratic dispensation in 1999.
Briefing Newsmen on Sunday, the chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, ANSIEC, Genevieve Osakwe announced that APGA won all the 21 chairmanship seats and also cleared the 326 councillorship positions in the State.
Osakwe who described the polls as the fairest, stated that the commission meticulously collated and analysed the results to ensure accuracy.
She commended the people of Anambra State for turning out enmasse and the Security Agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the process.
Aside APGA officials and party agents, no other representatives from opposition political parties were present at the ANSIEC office when the results were declared.
